Instead of "Kobe Luminarie", which has been canceled for three consecutive years due to the influence of the new corona, an event is being held to display some of the illumination works that have been displayed so far and enjoy them with music performances.

Since 1995, when the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake occurred, Kobe Luminarie has been held every December to pray for the passing on of memories and the repose of the souls of the victims. Service has been canceled.

Instead, some of the works that have been used at Kobe Luminarie will be exhibited as last year, and a total of nine works will be exhibited at four venues in Chuo-ku, Kobe until the 18th of this month.

At the main venue, Higashi Yuenchi, a work called "Cassa Armonica", which means "house of music" in Italian, will be exhibited, and music will be played every night on the stage inside.

At the opening ceremony held from 6:00 pm on the 9th, a chorus group from a local elementary school sang the song "Happiness to Carry", which was created in hopes of recovery.

A woman in her 30s who visited said, "It's a pity that the Luminarie won't be held, but I hope the event will continue because it will give children an opportunity to talk about the disaster."

Mr. Masaya Honda of the Organizing Committee Secretariat said, "I want people to enjoy the work while feeling the meaning of continuing the alternative project to inherit the memory of the earthquake disaster even in the corona disaster."
