The harvest of "Yuzu", which colors the winter table with a refreshing scent and bright color, is at its peak in Watari Town, Miyagi Prefecture.

Seiichi Takano, a farmer in the Okuma district of Watari Town, has been cultivating yuzu in his 40 ares orchard for about 20 years.

The harvesting work, which began at the end of last month, is now at its peak, and Mr. Takano selected bright yellow yuzu fruits from about 180 trees and carefully harvested them using scissors.

In this orchard, it is said that they are devising ways to keep the height down by setting the branches so that the yuzu fruits and leaves can get enough sunlight.

This year, the weather was good from summer to autumn, so the fruits are larger and the colors are brighter than usual.

Mr. Takano said, “We have produced a lot of yuzu with a lot of juice and a good aroma.

Harvesting work will continue throughout this week, and in addition to being shipped to supermarkets in Miyagi Prefecture, it is possible to buy it at orchards.
