On the night of October 28 to 29, the Alfortville cemetery (Val-de-Marne) was visited and vandalized.

Many graves were damaged, to the detriment of 22 families.

But these were contacted by the town hall, which decided to take charge of the restoration of the graves, reports

Le Parisien

.

Mayor Luc Carvounas (PS) wanted to help the injured parties, without waiting for the results of the police investigation.

It must be said that the bill can be very steep for some bereaved families.

Some steles were broken by the intruders, others turned over, and the damage can reach 5,000 euros.

A call for witnesses

So far, law enforcement has not identified any suspects in the case.

CCTV images are difficult to use, as the damage took place at night.

The police have therefore launched an appeal for witnesses to find the perpetrators of these acts of vandalism committed on All Saints' Day.

People who hold information can contact the Alfortville police station, even anonymously, at 01.43.53.89.10.
