Over the park in a residential area of Nagano City, the city decided to close the park after many years of complaints from residents of one house that the voices of children were noisy.

The city said, "We continued to discuss better measures, but we could not find a solution."

The park "Aokijima Amusement Park" in Nagano City was developed by the city in 2004 in response to requests from the district.

In addition to elementary schools and nursery schools, there are children's centers in the surrounding area. It is said that the children who came to pick up the tree complained that the shrubbery was damaged.

So far, the city has changed the location of the park entrance and playground equipment, and hastened the lights out time, but the complaints from this resident continued.

After that, children stopped using the park and few people visited, so the city decided to close it by the end of this month with the consent of the residents of the district.

Satoshi Hirasawa, head of the Nagano City Parks and Green Spaces Division, said, "Since there are multiple facilities for children next to each other and it's relatively large, it's a special kind of park that tends to make a lot of noise. Unfortunately, we made the decision to close after a difficult decision."

Residents complaining about noise

A resident who complained about the noise told NHK, ``The park was set up without any prior explanation, and the adjacent children's center let about 50 to 60 children play all at once. For 18 years, I continued to ask children's centers and nursery schools to make improvements, but as the person in charge changed, I couldn't stand it because I couldn't see any improvement. I think it's different to do whatever you want.I want you to understand that I feel noisy."

Park users…

A mother in her 40s who lives nearby said, "There aren't many places for children to play, and it's a valuable place with lots of greenery, so I understand the feelings of the local residents, but I want them to keep it."

The director of the children's center next to the park, where the children were playing, said, ``I asked the parents to be quiet when they were picking them up. I think, and I want everyone in the area to leave it, so it's very unfortunate, but there are various circumstances, so I think it's unavoidable."
