This month, the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a 69-year-old carpenter on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in a hit-and-run case in which a man in his 70s died after being hit by a car on the street in Nerima Ward, Tokyo.

He has partially denied the charges against the investigation.

Koji Shiratori (69), a carpenter living in Nerima Ward, Tokyo, was arrested.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, after 3:00 pm on the 4th of this month, Kazuo Tabata (79), who lives in Wako City, Saitama Prefecture, was driving a car while drinking alcohol on the street of Asahi-cho, Nerima-ku, and was riding a bicycle. He is accused of causing death by dangerous driving and hit-and-run.

The suspect was identified because a security camera in the surrounding area showed a one-box type car driving away at the time of the accident.

In response to the investigation, he said, "I drank alcohol and drove a car."

There was eyewitness information that the car collided with and dragged a man on a bicycle, and Mr. Tabata was lying about 280 meters from the place of collision, so the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the detailed situation at that time.
