The metropolis of Montpellier has voted in principle for a six-month extension of the purchase bonus for electrically assisted bicycles (VAE).
This was implemented on November 1, 2020 and extended several times in view of its success.
35,000 people residing in the Hérault prefecture or its neighboring towns have applied for assistance with the purchase of a new VAE.
These aids amounting to 500 euros are accessible to all, provided they live in the metropolis of Montpellier and buy a bicycle in one of the 31 municipalities that make it up.
The other aids concerning the bicycle also extended
“Proof of the immense attraction of the device, the same phenomenon is reproduced with each successive extension”, evokes the community.
That is “a 10% increase in the number of files submitted each month, a peak during the last month before the supposed end of the operation, a trough the month following the extension”.
Other aids are also extended.
They concern help with the purchase of second-hand goods for individuals, cargo bikes for companies, and help with repairs for owners of mechanical bikes.
