Around 150 passengers were injured in the collision of two suburban trains in the metropolis of Barcelona on Wednesday morning.

Three people were taken to a hospital, civil defense said on Twitter.

Most escaped with minor injuries.

“I was on the train that was standing and someone else was getting on.

There was panic, screams and fear.

These safety deficiencies are unacceptable," the newspaper La Vanguardia quoted passenger Josep Jorge as saying.

In the morning rush hour, the suburban trains are usually full and many people cannot find a seat.

With a strong jerk, they are knocked off their feet.

Civil defense wrote that most of them suffered bruises on their arms and legs in the collision.

The cause of the accident, which occurred at the Montcada i Reixac station, was initially unknown.

However, there is always criticism that too little is being invested in the railway system.

Trains come too late or not at all and there are always minor accidents.
