The Camel Marathon announces the challenge to the "Great Race" in Al Marmum

The second preliminary race (the second colloquium) for the National Camel Day Marathon, organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage in the Marmoum Course at the Dubai Camel Club, succeeded in establishing its position as a prominent forum of its kind that combines sport and heritage in conjunction with the UAE celebrations of the 51st Union Day, and announced Participants are ready for the big race, with the main race taking place on January 6th.

The marathon contributes to highlighting this traditional sport rooted in society, which was reflected in the second preliminary race that was held again over the weekend for three different age groups, with the continued participation of women as well.

The distance of the second preliminary race extended to a distance of six kilometers, after it was held for a distance of four kilometers in the first preliminary race in the Constitution Course at the Dubai Camel Racing Club.

In the age group 16 to 19 years, Issa Nasser Al-Ghafli achieved first place with a time of 10.54.01 minutes, followed by Saeed Rashid Al-Khatiri with a time of 11.10.08, and third place with Abdullah Saif Al-Ketbi with a time of 11.26.04 minutes.

In the age group from 20 to 29 years, Suhail Muhammad Al-Hamiri achieved first place with a time of 11.08.02, and Khalifa Saad Al-Qamzi came second.

As for the age group of 30 years and over, Khaled Ali Al-Nuaimi came in the first place with a time of 11.21.04 minutes, and in the second place Yahya Ali Al-Malai with a time of 11.43.08 minutes, and in the third place Khamis Ali Al-Malai with a time of 11.46.01 minutes.

Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmouk, CEO of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for Heritage Revival, said: “After these two preliminary races, we are looking forward to holding the main race on the sixth of January, which will be open to participants of all age groups in one race that includes everyone, similar to the previous versions, and in general. The size of participation and the levels that we follow in the National Day Marathon herald the revival and preservation of this kind of heritage between successive generations, and that we preserve camel riding and highlight it in the best possible way.

Ready for the challenge

For their part, the first-place finishers expressed their aspiration and readiness for the great challenge in the main race, after the strong levels they presented in the two preliminary races, especially in the second race.

And Issa Nasser Al-Ghafli considered that the two preliminary races gave everyone the opportunity to prepare for the main race, in which the competition will be strong.

He said, "Everyone aspires to be crowned the National Day Marathon, as it is one of the most important races that motivate us to ride camels, and we hope to be on time for the great event."

While Suhail Al-Hamiri affirmed, "Everyone is aware that the main race will be the expected one, while the second preliminary race constituted an important station for preparation, and most notably, it came in conjunction with the Union Day celebrations, which gave us great happiness and made us participate with all strength and motivation."

As for Khaled Ali Al-Nuaimi, he stressed that "the second preliminary race kept pace with expectations in terms of strength and competition, which makes us realize that the competition will be fierce in the main race, and everyone wants to be crowned with the title this year."

The second preliminary race witnesses the superiority of Al-Ghafli, Al-Humairi and Al-Nuaimi.
