Miracle saves the life of a man who was hit by a bullet through his head

A 24-year-old was written to a new life when he survived an attempted murder with a bullet in the head, which penetrated his head from behind and smashed his teeth.

The young victim, who is from the municipality of Marialva in Brazil, was standing in front of a vending machine outside a factory, when a man approached him from behind and shot him in the head. The distressing images were captured on a municipal surveillance camera and circulated through the Brazilian media.

The doctor who treated him at the hospital stated that the young man "underwent a CT scan and showed that he had a fracture in the first cervical vertebra."

The doctor added, "Injuries of this kind are fatal and leave the victim quadriplegic, but he was very lucky. It was a miracle."

Medics said that the bullet penetrated the back of the victim's head, pierced the neck and broke some teeth, and the pictures show the young man sitting casually on the edge of a sidewalk while trying to treat him for injury.

"He is in the emergency room, breathing without the aid of machines, receiving medical assistance and awaiting transfer to a reference hospital for surgery," the hospital said in a statement.
