The Athenas center, based in the Jura, is worried about a young lynx seen a month ago in the Marcieux sector (Savoie).
The structure, which comes to the aid of wild animals injured by human activities, is actively looking for the little feline almost 6 months old, relays

.
This one has been observed on several occasions near houses, without its mother.
Traps have been set up around Marcieux, without success so far.
But the Athenas Center and the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB) hope to be able to capture the young lynx as winter sets in for the region.
And if the feline has approached houses in search of food, it is because it is already weakened and lonely, specialists believe.
The mother certainly dead
Lynx females never abandon their young.
The mother of the specimen observed on the Épine massif is therefore certainly dead.
But no reports of poaching or road accidents have been made in the region.
If you come across an injured or weakened lynx, you can contact the Athenas center on 06.76.78.05.83.
