Editor's note:

Every Chinese who lives hard is the most beautiful struggler.

It is precisely because of the hundreds of millions of strugglers that China is today.

Ten years, pay tribute to every one of you who have struggled.

Let us work hard together for the new era, and never slack in the future.

[Explanation] Stepping into Sanlian Village, Shigutang Town, Yingde City, Guangdong Province, you can see green mulberry fields stretching along the way, which looks like a green ocean from a distance.

Sanlian Village is a professional village of "one village, one product, one town, one industry" in Guangdong Province. The 8,000 mu of land in the village is all planted with mulberry trees.

Before 1982, Sanlian Village and Shigutang Town didn't even have a single mulberry tree.

It all started with the family of the village party secretary Li Shiming.

[Explanation] Li Shiming's father, Li Yiqiu, is 88 years old this year. When he was young, he was a "barefoot doctor" in Sanlian Village.

In the process of practicing medicine, he found that planting mulberry and silkworms was much more beneficial than planting rice, so he started his attempt.

[Same period] Li Shiming, Secretary of the Party Branch of Sanlian Village, Shigutang Town, Yingde City, Guangdong Province, was just at the beginning of the reform and opening up. My father began to try planting. In fact, many people dare not try.

At the beginning, we planted more than 4 mu. In the second year, we expanded the planting to a little more than 10 mu. In the third year, we expanded the planting to 22.5 mu.

[Explanation] With hard work and continuous summing up of experience, Li Yiqiu's family became the first "million-dollar household" in the village.

Li Shiming joked that when the family bought the first large color TV in the village, his father moved the TV outdoors for the whole village to watch together.

[Same period] Li Shiming, Secretary of the Party Branch of Sanlian Village, Shigutang Town, Yingde City, Guangdong Province, bought a color TV and everyone in the village watched it.

(The villagers see) it is indeed possible to make money, and it is indeed possible to get rich.

In this way, many people followed suit.

It must be free (teaching how to plant mulberry and silkworms), and they are all from their own family. It doesn't matter if they make money, everyone will have money together.

[Explanation] With the vision of getting rich together with the villagers, Li Yiqiu provided everyone with mulberry seedlings for free, taught them the techniques of planting mulberry and raising silkworms, and also solved the problem of selling silkworm cocoons for everyone.

Driven by him, the whole village set off an upsurge in planting mulberry and sericulture, and the living conditions of the villagers gradually improved.

[Explanation] However, the price of silkworm cocoons and silk has fallen due to oversupply, and silkworm seedlings raised at multiple points at close distances are prone to mutual infection, and problems such as high mortality of silkworm seedlings have followed.

Following his father in raising silkworms for many years, Li Shiming saw these problems, so he took the lead in establishing the Guangming Sericulture Professional Cooperative in Yingde City (young silkworm breeding base), introducing technical support, and specially cultivating high-quality silkworm seedlings for the village, increasing the survival rate of silkworm seedlings. Great improvement.

[Same period] Li Shiming, Secretary of the Party Branch of Sanlian Village, Shigutang Town, Yingde City, Guangdong Province, basically, it is better to keep the big silkworms and small silkworms separate (raised separately).

Experienced ones are better raised, while inexperienced ones fail a lot, causing instability.

Later, I thought of setting up a silkworm seedling breeding system, and after breeding, I would distribute them to the farmers below, and the survival rate would be much higher.

[Explanation] Under the leadership of Li Shiming and Li Yiqiu, the villagers survived the most difficult period of price fluctuations. The mulberry planting and sericulture industry in Sanlian Village ushered in a new round of development. By 2012, the mulberry planting and sericulture industry in Sanlian Village had The scale has reached 5,000 mu, driving nearly 800 farmers.

After working in Sanlian Village for 40 years, Li Shiming is gratified that now his sons and daughters have also returned to their hometown, hoping to pass on the family's technology of planting mulberry and silkworm.

[Same period] Li Shiming, Secretary of the Party Branch of Sanlian Village, Shigutang Town, Yingde City, Guangdong Province, built his hometown based on the local area.

Because being at home will drive a lot of surrounding development.

It has been 40 years in a blink of an eye, and generations of them also want to make this industry bigger.

[Explanation] After graduating from university in 2014, Li Shiming's son Li Weixing returned to his hometown to establish the first enterprise in Guangdong Province to produce mulberry leaf vegetables.

Li Weixing told reporters that only young shoots are picked for mulberry leaf vegetables, which will not affect the mulberry leaves eaten by adult silkworms.

Li Shiming and Li Weixing, father and son, went to the mulberry field to guide farmers to pick mulberry leaf buds, paid the farmers for picking mulberry leaf buds, and purchased the raw materials of their mulberry leaf buds.

Nowadays, mulberry leaves can be used not only for silkworm rearing, but also for cooking. Farmers can increase their income by more than 1,000 yuan per mu of mulberry fields.

[Same period] Li Shiming's son Li Weixing blanched the water and then cooled it, vacuumized it for storage, and made it into a semi-finished product.

To do this, we need a lot of workers. We need a lot of workers who pick and work in the workshop, and there are also a lot of field management staff.

If you work here, you can actually take care of your family. Many of our workers are from the streets and towns.

[Explanation] Li Weixing's younger sister, Li Xueyan, gave up high-paying jobs in Guangzhou and Shenzhen and returned to her hometown to start a business. Through e-commerce, live broadcast and other younger and novel ways, she is determined to pass on the beautiful green products and rural characteristics of her hometown to all parts of the country. .

[Concurrent] The burden of Li Shiming's daughter Li Xueyan has also been passed on to our third generation.

My grandfather and father are my role models, and their spirit has also become the most important driving force for me to come back and help my hometown develop together.

Taking the sericulture industry as an entry point, after doing a good job in this industry, we will have greater strength to make better use of Yingde's agricultural resources.

[Explanation] Planting mulberry and raising silkworms used to be a way of life for two generations of the Li family to survive. The brothers and sisters of the Li family made the mulberry trees in their hometown a bigger stage by extending the mulberry industry chain.

It is understood that after 40 years of deep cultivation, Sanlian Village has planted more than 8,000 mu of mulberry trees, and Shigutang Town has an area of more than 13,000 mu of mulberry trees, with a total output value of over 60 million yuan.
