"Create Theatre" receives 21 applications from 13 local troupes

The Ministry of Culture and Youth announced that the “Create Theatre” initiative, which it recently launched, had received 21 applications from 13 local theater groups to benefit from the grants it offers within the tracks of “local theatrical tours”, “enhancing capabilities and skills” and “grants for external theatrical performances”.

The path of granting tours for theatrical performances within the UAE, which is concerned with supporting tours for newly produced theatrical performances (no more than two years old), organized by public benefit associations or theater groups registered in the country, received 11 applications, and five of them received support of 240 thousand dirhams.

The track of capacity building and development for theatrical groups, and support for participation in international festivals abroad at the Arab and regional level, received five applications for each, and grants were withheld in the track of capacity building and development because the applications submitted did not meet the stated conditions, while three theatrical works were supported within the track of supporting international participation with grants received. to 270 thousand dirhams.

The Minister of Culture and Youth, Noura bint Muhammad Al-Kaabi, said: “We were keen that the initiative keep pace with the aspirations and aspirations of local playwrights and raise the pace of creativity they present, and that we follow through it the various needs of workers in this sector, and provide them with a supportive environment that guarantees the continuity of creative work, which achieves our vision and our goal.” In supporting local theater productions and providing means for them to spread and have a wide presence at the local and regional levels.
