A fire broke out in a retirement home in Berlin-Neukölln early Sunday morning.

"The fire brigade is on site and immediately initiated rescue measures for the residents," said a police spokesman in the morning.

It is therefore still unclear how many people are in the dormitory on Schudomastrasse.

"We are currently on site or on the way with over 100 emergency services," said the fire department on Twitter in the morning.

Police forces cordoned off the area around the retirement home.

The cause of the fire was initially unclear.
