The Egyptian and Arab media community bid farewell to Mufid Fawzy, who passed away yesterday, at the age of 89, after a struggle with illness, and his funeral was held from the Maraachli Church in the Zamalek neighborhood in Cairo.

During his career, which spanned nearly 65 years, Mufid Fawzi was given a number of titles, including “the interlocutor” and “the owner of the hadeeth of the city.” He left a valuable library of meetings and dialogues that he conducted with the stars of politics, art, culture and society, the most prominent of which is his dialogues with the president. The late Egyptian Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, and a large number of former prime ministers and ministers in Egypt such as Atef Ebeid, Kamal Al-Ganzouri, Ahmed Nazif, and among the ministers, Hassan Abu Basha, Zaki Badr, Ahmed Rushdi and Habib Al-Adly.

Mufid Fawzy, who was born on June 19, 1933 in Beni Suef Governorate, Upper Egypt, graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, Department of English in 1959, and began his professional career in 1957 as an editor in the “Sabah Al-Khair” magazine at the Rosa Al-Youssef Foundation, and he was a student of the late writer Ahmed Bahaa. Al-Din, and worked for it for a long time until he assumed the position of editor-in-chief of the magazine for eight consecutive years.

In 1968, Mufid Fawzi married broadcaster Amal Al-Omda, and they had a daughter, Hanan, who also works in the field of journalism and media.

Although Mufid Fawzi’s program “Hadith al-Madina” is considered the most famous in his career, as it is a model for a television journalist’s investigation, the late presented many radio programs, including “Fawazeer Ramadan” with Amal Fahmy for 10 years, and the program “I Agree .. I Refrain” presented by Sana Mansour. And the program “A Cup of Tea” presented by Samia Sadiq, and he also presented episodes on Middle East Radio, including the program “Guest on a Summer Night” and the program “Where are they now” and other programs, until the journalist Samia Sadek decided to appear on Egyptian television in 1982 to present programs himself, pointing out that the best person to present a program is the one who prepares it.

Among the most prominent programs presented by the late Moufid Fawzi: “An Era of Art” on Umm Kulthum, “My Friend Promised to Doom” on Abdel Halim Hafez, “The Cannon Sometimes Before Bread” with Field Marshal Abdel Halim Abu Ghazaleh, and “The Musician and I” and a lengthy dialogue with Mohamed Abdel Wahhab. .

Moufid Fawzi also participated in two cinematic films under his name and his real personality as a journalist and interviewer, namely “Hadith al-Madina” produced by Magda al-Sabahi, and “His Excellency the Minister” with the artist Ahmed Zaki.
