At Kitano Tenmangu Shrine in Kyoto City, where many people visit for New Year's visits, a training session was held for students who would serve as temporary miko during the New Year.

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City, where Michizane Sugawara, the god of learning, is enshrined.

The training was held twice on the 4th, and about 70 people, including university students wearing red hakama, gathered in the precincts and first visited the main shrine and received purgatory.

Next, we moved to another room and learned from the priests how to keep in mind the day's language, such as counting talismans and bills as one or two, and the etiquette when giving them to worshipers.

After this, they formed a group of two people and practiced giving the amulets, divided into worshipers and miko, and confirmed the procedure.

A female third-year university student from Kyoto City, who participated in the training, said, "Many people will be visiting, so I want to be polite to them so that they can welcome the New Year comfortably."

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine expects nearly one million visitors during the first three days of the New Year.
