Of the urban planning roads in Tokyo, a new section connecting Sendagaya, Shibuya Ward and Naitocho, Shinjuku Ward was developed and opened on the 3rd.

It is expected to alleviate traffic congestion around Shinjuku Station.

The newly developed section is the 805-meter section from Sendagaya 5-chome, Shibuya-ku to Naito-cho, Shinjuku-ku, on the city planning road "Kanjo No. 5 No. 1" in Tokyo.

Prior to the opening at 2:00 pm on the 3rd, a commemorative ceremony was held at the site in the morning.

The new section will have two lanes for both the inner and outer loops, part of the outer loop will be an underground tunnel, and a sidewalk will be provided above ground.

According to the Tokyo metropolitan government, the opening of the new section is expected to alleviate chronic traffic congestion around Shinjuku Station and improve convenience by connecting Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro in the north-south direction.

On the "Kanjo No. 5 Route 1" including the new section, construction is currently underway to convert the existing road to four lanes in the Zoshigaya area.
