Last weekend, Dwayne Johnson bought candy bars at a convenience store in Hawaii.

This far from exceptional daily activity was filmed and published by the actor on his Instagram account because, when he was a child (and therefore much less well off financially), it was in this same store that he was stealing candy.

Indeed, for decades, Dwayne Johnson was plagued by guilt!

He absolutely wanted to exorcise what he called the “chocolate demon”.

“I was completely broke.

So I used to steal a king size Snickers EVERY DAY at 7-11 going to the gym for almost a year when I was 14,” he recalled.

“The same employee was there every day and always looked away without ever stopping me.

(…) I always knew I had to come back and rob all of their Snickers bars, but in the right way.

Nearly $300 worth of treats

"We were kicked out of Hawaii in 1987 and after all these years, I finally came home to right that wrong," Dwayne Johnson continued, adding that his shopping cost him a whopping $298.

And since the fable of the broke wrestler turned world's highest-paid actor wouldn't be complete without a moral, he concluded, "We can't change the past and some of the stupid things we may have done."

But once in a while, we can add a little note of redeeming grace to the situation – and maybe put a big smile on a stranger's face.”
