On a stage designed in a cylindrical shape, and representing the crossing tunnel from the past to the future, embodying the march and achievements of the Emirates, the official celebration of the Union Day was held yesterday, organized by the Celebrations Committee at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.
The show, which lasted for an hour, told the story and achievements of the state that began in 1971, without stopping at the present. space and education.
The celebration, which started with the national peace and a military parade, embodied the celebration of the nation's march and the passage of 51 years of achievements and aspiration to the bright future through inspiring personalities who draw the features of the future.
The official celebration carried the theme of aspiration towards the future, and it was embodied in the beginning by presenting a hypothetical story of a citizen born in 1971, where two large gates were opened, each decorated with 51 lights, to transport the audience to the long tunnel of time in which features of the past and perceptions of the future crystallize.
And to the sound of the music of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Emirati musicians, the audience witnessed the birth of a young child, the stages and stations of his life, and his successful career, with a focus on the importance of achievement and development, as well as adhering to Emirati values and customs and passing them on from generation to generation.

From the story of the citizen, the presentation moved to the promising sectors that the UAE is focusing on in its journey, namely marine life, agriculture, space, renewable energy and education.
Each paragraph of the show carried an inspiring story, starting with marine life and the story of the marine scientist Noura Al Mansouri, who accompanied the audience on a journey to the depths of the oceans.
The paragraphs combined the narrative style, and modern techniques in using the screen on the stage, lasers, and models that created scenes that integrated dazzling elements.
The screen opened to pictures of the seas, and the stage floor was transferred to deep waters, after which the models of marine creatures that were made by local craftsmen in the Emirates entered, in a three-dimensional scene, which carried aesthetics equal to the depth of the message.
"Between Earth and Heaven"
And with the flight of the Shah and Hankour birds, the show moved from the world of the sea to the segment “Between the Earth and the Sky”, which presented the state’s efforts to preserve the mangrove tree, especially the afforestation programs launched by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, to plant Crimea.
The environmental activist, Habiba Al Marashi, recounted the values rooted in the Emirati agricultural culture, in conjunction with the birds flying over 10,000 mangrove seedlings that were introduced to the stage, and will be planted after the ceremony is completed in various lands of the country, as part of the program for planting one million mangrove trees.
As for the future of vertical farming, Abdullah Al-Kaabi, an expert in the field of agricultural technology, explained it in a scene in which he presented the shape, future, and development of vertical farming.
On a journey to the vastness of the universe, the audience traveled through the tunnel of time, in which the lights sparkled in the form of stars, into space, and they meditated on the ancestors’ reasoning with the stars and relying on them in their lives.
The navigation systems engineer, Fatima Al Hameli, introduced us to her journey among the stars and her aspirations towards space, by recounting the history of the Emirates since the launch of the first satellite to the Hope Probe, supported on the stage by the presence of satellite models, which managed to transfer the audience from Earth to space.
ancient trade routes
And from the world of space to the railways of the train network, which took the audience to the ancient trade routes, and how cultural and economic ties were formed within the country, and presented how to move from the ancient tracks to the modern railway network.
Kholoud Al Mazrouei, Deputy Project Manager of the Etihad Rail Network, recounted this transition, with the opening of two large gates from the screen, and the entry of the train into the theatre, with a scene that began with the train running from the screen and continued on the stage.
The scene continued with the entry of the cyclists, who made a show with their bikes bearing lights in the wheels, noting that the cyclists are amateurs and a small percentage of them are professionals.
Renewable energy and education
As for the last two paragraphs of the presentation, they focused on renewable energy and education, and the engineer in the field of renewable energy, Maryam Al Mazrouei, presented how the UAE can benefit from the sun to obtain clean renewable energy.
While the Emirati generational educator, Saeed Nassib Al Mansouri, took us to a special story with education, starting from his experience as he taught himself on his own and through the tags that were used by the ancient tribes in the Emirates.
The bright march of education in the country was complemented by the celebration of the future through the march of children on the stage, in which a thousand students from the Emirates participated, in reviving an old tradition on Union Day in the country, where the children joined the music of the live orchestra and the choir, singing a song expressing joy.
The children walked on a stage that carried, through the lighting, graffiti documenting their future dreams.
