The MaMaMa association provides material support to isolated mothers in precarious situations by offering them hygiene and food items.

In its premises located in Saint-Denis, “spaces are set up so that mothers can rest and their children have a good time”, explains a volunteer.

“Most of the mums we receive are hosted by 115, so their little ones don't have a lot of space to play.

So when they come here, they don't want to go home anymore,” she says with a bitter smile.

An essential association for single mothers

“We mainly receive women in great material difficulty, who are alone with children.

So we wanted to be able to offer food baskets for babies, hygiene items, but also all the essential products for women, such as sanitary towels or underwear, adds Magali Bragard, one of the co-founders of the association.

Many of them don't wear underwear because it's invisible and it's the first thing you save money on”.

Despite the essential help it provides, the association is in danger: the town hall of Saint-Denis lends it the premises but wishes to recover them.

MaMaMa volunteers therefore risk being expelled if they do not find a new place to stay.

A petition has been opened asking for more time.

“We need to open other places.

It's not normal that there are women who travel three hours by bus one way and three hours by bus back just to find food products for their babies,” concludes the co-founder.
