The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates announced the issuance of a new banknote in the category of 1,000 dirhams, made of polymer material, with innovative designs and modern and advanced security features, coinciding with the celebrations of the 51st Union Day.

The issuance of the new banknote, which is the fourth in the series of the project for the third issuance of the national currency, comes within the framework of the Central Bank's approach to developing the financial sector in the country.

In designing the new banknote, the Central Bank was keen to embody the spirit of the union and the success story of the UAE, with cultural and developmental images and symbols that reflect the pioneering global achievements of the country, which strengthened its position to be among the developed countries within a record period of time.

The front side of the new banknote is adorned with the image of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, next to a model of a space shuttle, which was inspired by the late’s meeting with NASA astronauts in 1976, to express the ambition of the founding leader to be The UAE is one of the pioneers of space exploration.

This ambition was achieved in the Emirati Hope Probe’s journey to Mars in 2021, and it was embodied in the new paper by placing the image of “The Emirates Mission to Explore Mars - the Hope Probe” at the top of the banknote, and to the left of the image of the late Sheikh Zayed, to highlight the distinguished position of the Emirates. globally in space science and industry.

This dream was also embodied by displaying a picture of an astronaut, as a security mark that appears on both sides of the banknote, to express the arrival of the first Emirati astronaut in space.

The Central Bank was interested in showing another global achievement for the UAE, by including the back side of the new paper, with a picture of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which will play a key role in diversifying energy sources in the country and reducing carbon emissions, which will enable the UAE to advance further to fulfill its international obligations. in this regard.
