A trip overshadowed by a scandal at Buckingham.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, kicked off their first visit to the United States in eight years in Boston on Wednesday, just as a controversy erupted in the United Kingdom over a racist incident in the royal palace.

A former aide to Queen Elizabeth II quit on Wednesday after insistent questions about her origins to a black feminist activist at a reception in Buckingham.

"Racism has no place in our society," William's spokesman had immediately declared in Boston, even before the arrival of William and Kate, whose visit is an opportunity to shine the British Crown in the UNITED STATES.

A sign of the importance of this trip for the monarchy of the United Kingdom and its former American colony, the White House announced that President Joe Biden would go on Friday to “greet the Prince and Princess of Wales” in Boston, capital of the New England and historic city symbol of British colonialism before the Revolution and American independence at the end of the 18th century.

For “our first visit abroad since the death of my grandmother, I would like to thank the people of Massachusetts, and Boston in particular, for their many tributes to the late queen.

She remembered with great fondness her visit for the bicentennial (of the Revolution) in 1976,” William said at the Boston airport.

William and Kate were warmly welcomed by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, the city's first Asian American, and by future Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, the first lesbian woman elected to lead a US state.

In front of a smiling and enthusiastic crowd, the Prince of Wales said he wanted to "learn how the people of Massachusetts are fighting climate change in innovative ways", in a city which, like New York, is threatened by rising sea levels. Atlantic.
