Mylène Demongeot, actress of "Fantomas" and "Camping", is dead

Mylène Demongeot is dead, at the age of 87, announced this Thursday Henry-Jean Servat.

Born on September 29, 1935, Marie-Hélène Demongeot rose to fame as Mylène.

First a model, she appeared for the first time in cinema at the age of 17 in

But it was her performance as Abigail in

, an adaptation of Arthur Miller's play for which she shared the bill with Simone Signoret and Yves Montand in 1957, which served as a springboard for her on the big screen.

This role also earned her to be named among the female revelations of the year during the 1958 edition of the Baftas ceremony (the British equivalent of the Césars)

The public saw her in particular in

by Otto Preminger in 1958, and in André Hunebelle's "Fantomas" saga between 1964 and 1967. Recently, she made an impression as Laurette Pic in the three parts of

de Fabien Onteniente, released between 2006 and 2016.

After having married Marc Simenon, the son of Georges Simenon, in 1966, Mylène Demongeot had continued her career between dotted lines, becoming more rare in the cinema.

In 1980, she produced

, a feature film directed by her husband.

She also spent part of her career in the theater and was particularly active on the boards between the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s.

If she was made Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters and Knight of the Legion of Honor, she was never distinguished by her peers.

She has only been nominated twice for the Césars, in 2005 and 2007, as best actress in a supporting role for, respectively, 3
