The house of Jean Giono should soon regain its superb, in Manosque (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence).

Winner of the heritage lotto, the villa Le Paraïs has also just been selected to benefit from an endowment of 100,000 euros thanks to the patronage of Axa France, reports

This money will be used to finance the rehabilitation of the site, acquired by the municipality of Manosque in 2016.

A renovation estimated at 1.4 million euros

The work, which should begin in 2023, has been valued at 1.4 million euros.

"The project to restore the house, rehabilitate the gardens and build a site house dedicated to welcoming visitors, will allow the site to be brought up to regulatory standards", can we read in the commentary of the YouTube video posted on the Axa France account.

At the end of the rehabilitation, "the gauge of visitors authorized in the house to reach the objective of 2,500 visitors per year".

The famous writer Jean Giono lived in Le Paraïs with his family from 1930 to 1970. It was in this villa that he produced almost all of his work.

He left at his death “a personal library of more than 8,000 works, some annotated by his hand, and a documentary fund of private objects”, indicates Axa France.
