[Explanation] The ecological circle at the southern foot of Daxing'an Mountains at 46 degrees north latitude is a world-recognized golden belt for rice in cold regions.

However, there are also millions of acres of saline-alkali land known as "barren land", which is one of the world's three largest distribution areas of soda saline-alkali land.

Today, the white saline-alkali land here has been transformed into golden rice ears.

[Explanation] In 2018, Yuan Longping Rice Academician Expert Workstation settled in Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and also brought the salt-alkali-tolerant rice planting technology to this land, making the rice in Zeng Jin's "wasteland" fragrant.

[Explanation] Taking over his father's mantle, Yuan Dingyang, the son of academician Yuan Longping, stood at the saline-alkali rice base in the Xing'an League and told reporters that when mentioning saline-alkali-tolerant rice from the beginning, people think more of seawater rice, but seawater rice is only small in coastal areas. Part of the saline-alkali land, most of the saline-alkali land in China exists inland, and the terrain of these saline-alkali lands is more complicated, not only salt, but also alkali in different contents, so conquering this part of saline-alkali land and planting them with grain is crucial to ensuring China's food security very meaningful.

In the past, high yields were more productive, but it is still difficult to further increase the yield at a very high level.

However, there is still a large part of saline-alkali tolerant land in our country. There are about one billion mu of saline-alkali-resistant land, of which about 100-200 million mu of saline-alkali land can be effectively used. If we use this part of saline-alkali land to grow food, it will actually be very important for our country’s food security. Safety is very important.

[Explanation] One of the tasks of Yuan Longping Rice Academician Expert Workstation settled in Xing'an League is to develop saline-alkali-tolerant rice suitable for local planting.

At the beginning of the establishment of the workstation, Mr. Yuan set a "pass line" for them to produce 300 kilograms per mu of saline-alkali-tolerant rice.

After continuous breeding, improvement, and testing... the workstation has produced more than 500 kilograms of saline-alkali-tolerant rice per mu for 4 consecutive years, and has handed in a gratifying answer with its strength.

Every time we keep improving, go to breeding, and then to breeding, to speed up some progress (salt-alkali-tolerant rice cultivation), we also build some modern biotechnology, molecular-assisted selection technology, which can accelerate it and speed up its progress Speed, we make it better (make it better) when it is good, so that we can accelerate the stability and adaptability of our products, and also (increase the yield of saline-alkali-tolerant rice).

[Explanation] Yuan Dingyang told reporters that the significance of the success of the Xing'an League's "salt-alkali-tolerant hybrid rice" test is not only that it can be promoted to the whole of northern China, but can even go abroad to the world, providing " Chinese Wisdom".

[Concurrent] Yuan Dingyang, Deputy Director of Hunan Hybrid Rice Research Center

Saline-alkali-resistant land is not only found in our country, but also in other countries. For example, there are a lot of saline-alkali-alkaline land along the coast in Vietnam. They also like to cooperate with us to develop this salt-alkali-resistant rice.

For example, some other countries in the inland areas at the same latitude actually have (salt-alkali-resistant land). We can also use these varieties to continue to promote and cooperate in other countries in some lands at latitudes with the same conditions. How about this? , that is to say, this grain is applicable globally.
