In an interview with the "Sunday Times" Saturday, November 26, Helena Bonham Carter defended Johnny Depp, accused of domestic violence by his ex-wife Amber Heard.

And, the interpreter of the red queen in "Alice in Wonderland" also spoke about the accusations of transphobia targeting JK Rowling.

For her, the author of the “Harry Potter” saga spoke only of her “personal experience”. 

Helena Bonham Carter remains faithful to her friends.

in an interview given to the

Sunday Times

on Saturday 26 November. 

Helena Bonham Carter says Johnny Depp is 'doing fine'

Helena Bonham Carter is convinced: Amber Heard is lying when she claims to have been the victim of domestic violence inflicted by her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

"Because it's trendy, a lot of women are trying to be leaders in the movement," the comedian said, referring to the #MeToo movement.

Johnny Depp won a defamation lawsuit last June against Amber Heard, ordered to pay him more than ten million dollars.

Since his legal setbacks, the actor has been boycotted by Hollywood.

He notably lost his role in the sage of

Fantastic Beasts.

 "I think he's fine now. Very well", assures Helena Bonham Carter, who then asks readers if they would condemn a "genius" for his sexual practices.

“There is a kind of witch hunt”

The actress also defended JK Rowling, the author of

Harry Potter

, accused of transphobia

.

Helena Bonham Carter played Bellatrix Lestrange in the saga.

She believes that JK Rowling "was only speaking from personal experience".

"It became hysterical. There is a kind of witch hunt. And a lack of understanding", denounces the actress.

“She has the right to have her opinion, especially if it comes from a trauma”.

Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe, the two stars of the saga, have both denounced the transphobic remarks of JK Rowling.

The Harry Potter actor said he wanted "young transgender people to know that not everyone in the franchise is of the same mind."

"Personally, I think they should let her have her opinions," laments her former colleague Helena Bonham Carter. 

She is not the only actress in the saga to have defended JK Rowling.

Ralph Fiennes, alias Voldemort, also defended the writer.
