Chinanews.com, Chengdu, November 28th (Du Cheng, Wang Qinlong) In 2024, at the World Horticultural Exposition held in Rongcheng, how will Chengdu welcome guests from all over the world?

How will the main venue of the Chengdu Expo, located in the Eastern New District of Chengdu, be presented?

On the 28th, the leading designers of the design team of the main pavilion of the 2024 Chengdu World Horticultural Exposition—Qian Fang, Chief Architect of China Construction Southwest Institute, and Xiao Bo, Chief Architect of the Third Design Institute of China Construction Southwest Institute, revealed the secrets to the public in advance.

In Qian Fang's view, the more in tune a building is with the city's natural environment and cultural tone, the more it has the conditions to be "long-lasting".

His previous works, such as Western China International Expo City, Tianfu International Financial City + Twin Towers, Sichuan Provincial Library, etc., were all designed with this concept in mind - this is consistent with the concept of "making the city orderly in the natural landscape" The urban construction concept of "growth" coincides with each other.

It is understood that the main exhibition hall of the World Horticultural Exposition is adjacent to the Jiangxi Fifth Line of the Eastern New Area in the east and Maha Lake in the north.

In accordance with the requirement of “design fully respecting nature and adapting measures to local conditions”, Qian Fang and his team rationally analyzed and determined the design direction: Considering the side of the site facing the lake as the scope of construction, and placing the large part of the main exhibition hall on the east side of the site, The original topography is preserved in the southeast side where the terrain height difference is large, and the buildings are arranged in combination with the terrain height difference, showing the characteristics of "showing the mountains and dew" with a modest volume relationship.

Through the decomposition of the building volume, the inharmonious relationship between the large-scale building (20,000 square meters) and the smaller-scale Maha Lake (150 meters at its widest point) is subtly resolved.

The most important point is that the building of the main exhibition hall will continue to be used after the World Horticultural Expo. For this reason, the side of the main exhibition hall facing Jiangxi Fifth Line is opened as a square facing the city after the Expo, which provides convenience for post-exposure use and Created a good iconic image of the city.

"Architectural design is a process of inheriting culture, and the mission of architects is to pass on what needs to be passed down in culture through their own designs," Qian Fang said.

Xiao Bo recalled that in the initial stage of creativity, the design team let go of their thinking and searched for relevant imagery elements and keywords that could represent the characteristics and characteristics of Chengdu, ranging from ruins or buildings such as Sanxingdui and Qingyang Palace to as small as a ginkgo leaf or a hibiscus flower , have inspired the architect's design inspiration, "the regional beauty and regional culture are deeply implanted in the designer's mind."

Finally implemented on the design drawing, the idea of the main exhibition hall originated from the intersection of multiple images of Chengdu's natural and humanistic elements. The bird-like shape connects various functional spaces, and the dynamic curve of the building is like a dragon jumping out of Maha Lake. It echoes the year of Jiachen and Dragon in 2024, and creates the overall atmosphere of the main exhibition hall with the concept of "a bird holding a flower". At the same time, it also creates a rich semi-outdoor space with regional attributes.”

The design team is ingenious, and has created in the base the guests like clouds, sitting leisurely and looking at the universe, the whirling green, the apricots in autumn, the drizzle staying guests, the clear water and flowers, the maha reflecting the moon, the Jiangxi range rover, and the spring rain. 10 check-in landscapes, such as traces, divine birds holding flowers, etc.

"Chengdu Imagery" is well represented in 10 scenes.

Taking the most popular ginkgo in autumn and winter in Chengdu as an example, this image appears under the roof of the entire main exhibition hall. It emits a wind chime-like sound effect, which is visually and aurally pleasing to the eye.

According to reports, the design of the multifunctional performing arts hall of the main exhibition hall of the Chengdu World Horticultural Exposition is the finishing touch that the design team is most satisfied with.

In the performing arts hall, movable partitions that can be separated are reserved, which can flexibly meet the needs of various functions such as international conferences, citizen wedding banquets, song and dance celebrations, various exhibitions, academic exchanges, calligraphy and painting competitions, etc., reflecting the sustainable adaptability of functions. Improve the effective utilization of space.

"When the background LED wall is closed, the natural scenery of the entire Maha Lake, Jiangxi River, and even the Longquan Mountains in the distance become the natural background picture in the hall." (End)
