At Komatsushima Nishi High School in Komatsushima City, students who aim to acquire a chef's license prepare school lunches.

On the 28th, in order to get people to think about the world's food problems, students and teachers proposed a croquette school lunch using cricket powder in cooperation with a venture company from Tokushima University that develops edible cricket products. I decided to

The students mixed pumpkin paste with cricket powder instead of meat, rolled them into bite-sized balls, and fried them in oil.

When it was time for school lunch, many students gathered in the cafeteria and ate croquettes one after another.

The student who ate said, "It was delicious. I didn't realize that there were crickets in it. I think I could eat this much even if I went to school lunch."

Hiri Nagao, a second-year student who invented the croquette, said, ``At first, I didn't like bugs, but once I ate them, I didn't mind them at all.''

At the high school, after conducting a questionnaire survey on the taste of croquettes, we will provide school lunches using powdered edible crickets again next year.
