This is an extremely rare event in Brittany.

A walrus was filmed last Friday coming out of a river in the town of Plouguiel (Côtes-d'Armor).

A resident fell on it by chance and alerted Océanopolis, the largest aquarium in Europe located in Brest (Finistère) and which sent its agents to the spot, reports France 3 Bretagne.

Two similar discoveries

The resident, who was near the Jaudy River, saw the animal "bathing and playing in the water" in the afternoon.

According to her, the mammal seemed old.

An amazing discovery knowing that the animal usually lives in the Arctic region.

According to the National Network which monitors the strandings, it has since left.

A few days earlier, a walrus had also been seen in the port of Dieppe, in Seine-Maritime.

A similar discovery was also made in the Netherlands shortly before.

It could be the same animal.
