The fight against sexist harassment on the Internet is still long.

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Valérie Pécresse has published a video which connects the many sexist insults aimed at her.

“Dirty whore”, “dirty bitch”, “dirty female dog”… The words used are violent.

“These insults, these death threats, these sexist comments, I receive dozens of them every week and I know that you do too, testifies the president of the Ile-de-France region.

Women, students, activists, journalists, influencers, streamers, business leaders, columnists, politicians… We are all victims.

And it has a name: cyberbullying.

Behind this testimony, some Internet users have supported the elected Les Républicains, like this user who believes that political disagreements do not legitimize insults.

Anonymity does not justify insults, intimidation, threats, humiliations..... support Madam President @vpecresse, because beyond disagreements, it is about the moral and physical integrity of #women, and even more so in politics.

But others have added a layer.

“You are ruining our lives”

Many Internet users reacted to the message posted by the former presidential candidate.

And many drive the point home.

Like this Internet user who denies gender-based violence against Valérie Pécresse, believing that it is not because she is a woman that she is being insulted, but because she “rots life”.

So no, for once it's not because you're a woman Valérie, it's because YOU really just YOU alone, you're ruining our lives.

Another user of the social network believes, like many, that these insulting and sexist messages are "deserved" because of the management of public transport by the Ile-de-France region, and in particular the possible increase in the Navigo pass up to 90 euros announced during the week.

Mdrrrrrrr but it's deserved madam 👀

A user simply replied to Valérie Pécresse's tweet with a lapidary "ntm" (initials of "fuck your mother").
