  Li Wensheng, head of the Urumqi Fire Rescue Detachment, said that the fire had the characteristics of large fire load, rapid spread, many trapped people, and difficulty in evacuation and search and rescue.   At 19:49 on November 24, a fire broke out in a high-rise residential building in Jixiangyuan Community, Tianshan District, Urumqi City, killing 10 people and injuring 9 others.

Based on the on-site investigation and the statements of the parties concerned, the relevant departments determined that the fire broke out in the southeast corner of the bedroom on the east side of Room 1502. The cause of the fire was preliminarily determined to be a fire on the plug board in the family bedroom, and the accident is still under further investigation.
