This Wednesday, swans infected with the H5N1 bird flu virus were discovered in the Vigueirat marsh nature reserve, in Mas-Thibert in the Camargue, according to a press release from the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture.
Consequently, an order determining a temporary control zone was taken, and included a dozen municipalities from Arles to Salon-de-Provence via Miramas and Fos-sur-Mer.
Last week, still in the Camargue but on the Gard side, a pink flamingo sick with avian flu was detected.
