Bill Gates and his former wife Melinda French Gates will become grandparents.

Her daughter Jennifer announced Thursday that she is expecting her first child with professional show jumper Nayel Nassar.

"Grateful," the 26-year-old wrote on social media alongside a photo of her with her husband and baby bump.

Gates, a trainee doctor, hobby horse rider and the eldest of the former couple's three children, married Nasser a year ago at their estate in North Salem, New York.

Although her parents had announced their separation a few months earlier after 27 years together, they walked Gates down the aisle together.

As her mother French Gates later implied, the Microsoft founder's relationship with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is believed to have contributed to the divorce.

Bill Gates met the finance executive in 2011, three years after he was convicted of sexual abuse.

Despite repeated allegations against Epstein of forcing minors to have sexual encounters with himself and celebrity acquaintances, the billionaire reportedly continued to be associated with the New Yorker.
