China News Service, Hengshui, November 19th (Cui Zhiping, Wang Peng, Huang Jian) On the 19th, the "2022 China·Hengshui International Symposium on Dong Zhongshu and Confucianism and the Chinese Confucius Institute Dong Zhongshu Research Committee Academic Annual Conference" was held in Hengshui, Hebei.

Dong Zhongshu, a native of Guangchuan (Jingxian County, Hebei Province) in the Western Han Dynasty, was a key figure in making Confucianism the mainstream of Chinese traditional culture, and was known as the "Chief Architect of Chinese Traditional Politics".

Dong Zhongshu was also the first philosopher in the world to systematically discuss the idea of "Great Unification", and his discussion contributed to China becoming the only ancient civilization in the history of the world without cultural dynasties.

On that day, more than 120 experts and scholars from home and abroad participated in the meeting through a combination of offline and online methods, and had heated discussions on the aspects of classics, philosophy, politics, history of Dong Xue, literature texts, historical status and modern value.

Wu Xiaohua, secretary of the Hengshui Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, expressed the hope that through this seminar, experts, scholars, celebrities and high-ranking scholars will talk about Daohu City and collide with their ideas, push the study of Dong Xue to a new height, and make new contributions to promoting cultural self-confidence and self-improvement.

"Dong Zhongshu is not a pure Confucian scholar or scholar, but a social activist. For Dong Zhongshu, I once had a position that he was the architect of the Han Dynasty society. There was a whole set of ideas about the bureaucratic system and the supervision of officials at that time, and these ideas still have a strong reference value for us today." Li Kuiliang, president of the Dong Zhongshu Research Association of Hebei Province, said.

According to Wei Yanhong, dean of Dong Zi College of Hengshui University, since the seminar was held in 2018, it has become an influential international Confucian event.

Famous experts and scholars gathered at the seminar this year, and 121 papers were received, the most in five years.

The seminar was co-sponsored by the Hengshui Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Dong Zhongshu Research Committee of the Confucius Institute of China, the Chinese Practical Studies Research Association, Hebei Province Dong Zhongshu Research Association, Hebei Province Dong Zhongshu and Traditional Culture Research Center, and Hengshui College.
