There are various forms of "sharing" around us, such as car sharing and room sharing, but this time, university students shared "disaster prevention".

The theme of thinking with university students is "shared disaster prevention"

Since this summer, Osaka Public University and NHK Osaka Broadcasting Station have held workshops and talk events with students to raise awareness of disaster prevention among young people.

The theme is "Share disaster prevention".

The aim is to have the younger generation, who are familiar with mobile devices, easily share knowledge and information about disaster prevention with friends and family, and raise awareness of disaster prevention.

Awareness of disaster prevention among the younger generation is an issue

According to the data of "Efforts for disaster prevention" in the white paper on disaster prevention compiled by the Cabinet Office, the younger the age, the lower the percentage of people who are working on disaster prevention.

It is a challenge to raise awareness of disaster prevention among the younger generation on a daily basis.

How would you like to share?

In order to disseminate knowledge and information about disaster prevention to the younger generation, how can we get students to "share" it?

This summer, a workshop was held at Osaka Public University, and 30 university students participated to discuss specific methods.

Participating university students offered opinions such as, "Even though it's disaster prevention, it's better not to make it heavy," and "Isn't it okay to make it brighter?"

Send compact and friendly disaster prevention videos to SNS

How can we raise awareness of disaster prevention?

When I asked for their opinions, they said, "I thought it would be good to post short videos of about 15 seconds on TikTok one by one. If it becomes a hit, it will appear on the morning news program and become a hot topic." There was a voice saying, "Why don't you introduce a video of arranged recipes for the food that has become extinct?", so we decided to send disaster prevention videos on SNS.

Try making a disaster prevention video!

Volunteers from the participating university students decided to produce the video.

The theme is "Making your first disaster prevention bag".

As a first step, I thought about what I would need in case of an emergency, and filmed the process of arranging the goods.

The shooting was done at supermarkets and pharmacies around the station near the university to create a sense of familiarity.

In addition to water and emergency food, we also prepared playing cards and balls so that we could distract ourselves at the shelter.

Compact video that won't get bored

We also focused on editing work, and aimed to create a video that can be conveyed in 30 seconds, including fast-forwarding scenes so that you can watch it without getting bored.

After repeated trial and error, it took about a month to complete the video.

Hinano Kamioka, who produced the video,

"I don't have a fun image of an evacuation center, so I thought that playing cards and balls would be necessary to relax and take a breather in such a place, so I incorporated it. Watch our video. Even those who thought they didn't need it at the time, I thought it would be good if it gave them an opportunity to think about what they need ."

Yuka Utsubo, who made the video, said,

"Before you participate, think about disaster prevention .

I thought it was something special and extraordinary, but after participating in this project, I came to see disaster prevention as something that I can think about every day, and that it's something that I can do on a daily basis.”

Students starting to move towards the second stage

In order to deepen their knowledge of disaster prevention, the university students went to Sumiyoshi Ward, Osaka City, where the campus of Osaka Public University is located, to listen to disaster prevention officials, and learned how to assemble a cardboard bed.

Also, since the university will be used as an evacuation center in the event of a large earthquake, we made a video introducing where the stockpiled water and food are located on the large campus of the university. I will send it at.
