Ticketmaster was forced to admit it: the ticketing giant had eyes bigger than its stomach.

The online sales site had to cancel the sale of tickets for the American tour of Taylor Swift.

In question, the management of the presale which turned into a fiasco for the platform, when never so many show tickets had passed in a single day: two million for a single artist.

The general sale of tickets was to take place this Friday, but a message came yesterday to shower the hopes of millions of fans.

"Due to extraordinarily high demand on the ticketing systems and an insufficient supply of tickets to meet this demand, tomorrow's public on-sale for Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour has been cancelled." -we read on Twitter.

And, to make matters worse for the Swifties, there has been no indication of a possible reopening of the sale.

Down with the monopoly!

The failure of traffic management and control over pre-sale tickets has generated a resale system that deprives less fortunate fans of access to concerts.

The subject is emblematic for anti-monopoly and consumer protection associations which have long had Ticketmaster and its concert touring partner, Live Nation, on this practice.

They are accused of "rocking prices, imposing unnecessary and costly fees and exploiting artists, independent venues and fans".

An investigation is demanded and even takes a political turn.

The Democratic deputy of Rhode Island (where Taylor Swift has a property), David Ciciline, also strongly attacked this “monopoly out of control”.

The resale prices of Taylor Swift's tour tickets indeed reach staggering amounts: more than 20,000 dollars per seat.
