Dwayne Johnson says it bluntly: sport saved him.

And not just because he was a star in professional wrestling, but also to deal with his psychological vulnerability.

The star spoke in the cover issue of

Men's Health

about the most difficult years of his life, when he suffered from depression.

If he has already spoken on this subject, the actor this time revealed how much the sport had helped him.

“During the times I suffered from depression, the gym became my best friend – and I know that is the case for many people,” he explained.

“You can go to the gym to flush out toxins and regain some clarity on the way out.

It doesn't solve the problem, but it helps.

And help, Dwayne Johnson knows that everyone needs it and that we must dare to ask for it.

A gesture still difficult to make for many men.

“As guys, we tend not to ask for help.

The ego takes over and we start burying things deep in our guts, which is not a good thing.

I became an advocate for asking for help,” he says.

To share

One of the ways he, Dwayne Johnson, can help is by bringing his experience to his 347 million subscribers.

With the exercises he offers on social networks, he knows he has an attentive audience.

"I've been training long enough to know that there are good takeaways that I could share that could help my audience on their fitness and wellness journey," he explains.

The star, currently seen on

Black Adam

, believes "life can be crazy and fun for all of us", and that finding balance is a practice that is being perfected.

He says he found it by "making sure to stay in touch with the simple, basic things that are important to me."
