Carrefour will launch a new discount food brand in France in 2023. The supermarket chain has decided to bet on the Atacadão stores which have won over millions of consumers in Brazil with 258 hypermarkets already open in this country.

Products stacked on pallets

According to information from the specialized magazine LSA, Carrefour would have chosen the department of Seine-Saint-Denis to set up its first Atacadão point of sale.

It should be a transfer.

In other words, a hypermarket of the French group will be transformed to respond to the concept of the Brazilian brand: “cash and carry”.

In these warehouse stores, products are stacked on pallets and packaged in large quantities.

This is what makes it possible to offer attractive prices, both to professionals and to individuals.

Especially since the number of references is limited and the major brands are very rare.

On BFMTV, Alexandre Bompard, CEO of the Carrefour group, mentioned a first opening in September 2023.
