Egypt: A mother tortures a 4-month-old baby to death
Egyptian police arrested a woman after accusing her of torturing her 4-month-old baby to death.
According to Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper, forensic medicine confirmed that the child died as a result of a beating, and not as his mother claimed that his death was due to a severe cold.
The infant sustained recent traumatic injuries resulting from a collision with a hard body, which caused bleeding in the brain, a fracture of the right eighth rib, and laceration and bruising of the right lung.
The security services had received a notification from a hospital about the arrival of a dead 4-month-old baby, whose mother left him and fled because she did not have identification papers.
It located the mother and seized her, and she confessed that she was married to someone and he verbally divorced her (without documentation).
The mother also admitted that she had the child after having an illegal relationship with another person, and that after the child had a cold, she decided to get rid of him after his death, but the investigations concluded that she ended his life by torture.
Investigations revealed that the biological father of the child is in prison pending other cases.
