Clovis Cornillac was the guest of the morning of Europe 1 Wednesday, on the occasion of the release of his new film "Colors of the fire".

At the microphone of Dimitri Pavlenko, the actor and director explains how he gave a "vision" and a "point of view" to the work of Pierre Lemaitre to make "Colors of Fire" his own film.

Clovis Cornillac is back in the cinema in front of and behind the camera with

Colors of Fire

, an adaptation of Pierre Lemaitre's work which is intended to be the sequel to

Goodbye up there.

Invited to the microphone of Dimitri Pavlenko on Europe 1 on the occasion of the release of the feature film, in theaters since Wednesday November 9, Clovis Cornillac was very clear: he in no way betrayed the work of the writer Pierre Lemaitre since

Colors of Fire

is indeed his film.

"The idea is not from Pierre Lemaitre, otherwise he would have made his film"

"I don't know if it's really about betrayal or things like that, but I think every medium asks for a point of view. So is having a point of view betraying the the author's point of view?" asks the director.

"Not sure. It's just assumed," he deduces.

Clovis Cornillac obviously exchanged with Pierre Lemaitre before adapting his book to the cinema.

And, their meeting went very well.

"He said to me 'me, my book, it's the book I wanted to do. Now, the script, it's going to be for your film'", remembers the star at the microphone of Dimitri Pavlenko.

"I have to give a vision and a point of view"

"So the idea is not from Pierre Lemaitre, otherwise he would have made his film", assures Clovis Cornillac, before continuing: "For me, it seems impossible to me to make a film if it is not mine. Not in the sense that it belongs to me, but I have to give a vision and a point of view".

At the microphone of Dimitri Pavlenko, Clovis Cornillac also returns to the choice of the cast of his film.

The director has indeed set his sights on Léa Drucker to play Madeleine Péricourt, the main character of Colors of Fire.

Around her gravitate other exceptional actors: Alice Isaaz, Benoît Poelvoorde, Olivier Gourmet or even Fanny Ardant.

What I'm looking for is first of all their talent, of course, people I want to film, but above all people who are at work, who aren't arrested, who aren't in something comfortable and a little gentrified like that, but who are always on the alert", he confides. "As I am not brilliant, I work a lot.

That's my strength and I need people who are receptive to that."

Colors of Fire

is the sequel to

Goodbye Up There,

a book by Pierre Lemaitre adapted in 2019 for the cinema by Albert Dupontel.
