China's chief negotiator held a press conference at COP27, the UN's conference on climate change, and resumed talks after accusing the United States of being responsible for the suspension of talks on climate change issues between the United States and China. He emphasized that whether or not to do so depends on the response of the United States.

The United States and China issued a joint declaration at last year's COP26 to strengthen measures against climate change, but in August this year, the Chinese government responded to the visit to Taiwan by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. announced a temporary suspension of talks.

Xie Zhenhua, the head of the Chinese government's climate change agenda, held a press conference at COP27 in Egypt on the 9th, saying, "Everything was going well, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan was China's first." It violated sovereignty and hurt the feelings of the Chinese people," he said, blaming the US side for the suspension of talks.

On the other hand, he revealed that he continues to informally exchange opinions with Special Envoy Kelly, who is in charge of climate change issues in the United States.

He then said that "it is the United States that is closing the door, and China is opening the door", emphasizing that it is up to the United States to resume talks.

At COP27, President Biden of the United States is scheduled to give a speech on the ground on the 11th, and attention will be paid to whether there is any mention of cooperation between the United States and China.
