Forever "Wetten, dass ..?": Thomas Gottschalk, in his own words, can now imagine a permanent sequel to the television classic with him as moderator. "I'm open-ended if ZDF and God agree," said the 72-year-old from the magazine "Hörzu" according to a statement on Wednesday. So far, only one show is planned for November 19 and next year.

However, Gottschalk ruled out an annual summer edition from Mallorca, for example.

"Although it was always a topic of conversation, it was ultimately disappointing in terms of the ratings," he recalled of the earlier Mallorca programs.

"In the memory of ZDF viewers, the summer edition is also inextricably linked to the bullring on Mallorca - this building is now dilapidated and would no longer survive such a large event," said Gottschalk.

Criticism of the broadcasters

When asked about the "combat programming" on the part of the ARD, which was running at the same time as "Wetten, dass ..?"

Florian Silbereisen broadcasts with the new hit show "Schlager oder N!xxx", Gottschalk replied: "From my point of view this is just further proof that we don't need two public TV channels. ZDF is trying to compete with crime novels to destroy, and the ARD saves itself with 'Schlager shows' if the program managers can't think of anything better. The fee payer is the stupid one!"
