Supporters of Iwao Hakamada, who are seeking a retrial in the so-called "Hakamada case", have requested the Tokyo High Public Prosecutors Office to withdraw the immediate appeal.

Iwao Hakamada, 86, was sentenced to death 56 years ago for the murder of a family of four in what is now Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City. issued.



However, the prosecution filed an immediate appeal as dissatisfied, and after the Supreme Court's hearing, closed-door discussions are still ongoing at the Tokyo High Court.



The biggest point of contention is the change in color of the blood stains on the clothing believed to be the criminal's, which was found in a miso tank near the scene more than a year after the arrest.



The defense argued that the evidence was fabricated, saying that ``the redness will disappear over time. I was experimenting with pickling in miso.



According to the defense team, when they inspected the prosecution's experiment on the 1st of this month, it was confirmed that the redness of the blood stains had disappeared. I requested that the immediate appeal be withdrawn.



Supporter Nobuhiro Terasawa said, "The results of the experiment are like the prosecutors' own proof that Mr. Hakamada is innocent. I want him to immediately withdraw the appeal."
