It was already in the top three of French theme parks, behind Disneyland and Parc Astérix.

Puy du Fou, a Vendée amusement park renowned for its spectacular historical frescoes, welcomed 2.34 million visitors in 2022, a record since the creation of the site by Philippe de Villiers, we learned on Tuesday.

“For its first full season since the end of the health crisis, Puy du Fou saw attendance in 2022 exceeding all expectations.

The number of visitors this year stands at 2,342,200, an increase of around 2% compared to 2019,” the park announced.

Development abroad

In 2019, 2,308,000 visitors were welcomed to the park, and lovers of live shows and theme hotels had been 2.3 million to visit the park in 2018 and 2.26 million in 2017. In 2020 and 2021 , attendance at this site popular with French and foreign tourists had been affected, as everywhere, by the Covid-19 crisis.

On the strength of its success in France, the park has displayed its international ambitions for several years, with in particular the creation of Puy du Fou España, near Toledo in Spain.

Philippe de Villiers, who supported candidate Eric Zemmour during the 2022 presidential election, put on the very first Puy du Fou show in 1977.
