Warsaw will pay for the expansion of the US Air Force base in the Polish city of Powidz, where a combat aviation brigade armed with Apache attack helicopters is stationed, from its own pocket, Polish Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak promised.
“For these helicopters, over the course of several years, we will prepare a base in the form of hangars and warehouses ... so that the helicopters can operate from Powidz, so that they can support the Polish forces and the forces of the North Atlantic Alliance,” the media minister was quoted as saying.
The expansion of the air force base is the development of a more general process of building up the American military presence in Poland.
