Fans of the 2019 box office hit "Joker" will have to be patient.

The sequel to the adventures of Batman's sworn enemy will hit theaters... on October 2, 2024!

"Joker: Folie à deux" will be presented as a musical comedy in which Joaquin Phoenix, who is back for this second part, will play, but also Lady Gaga who will slip into the skin of Harley Quinn.

A highly anticipated second installment.

The film

Joker

, which was a hit at the global box office in 2019 and which was acclaimed by critics, will (unsurprisingly) be entitled to a sequel.

The second part of the adventures of Batman's enemy, brilliantly played by Joaquin Phoenix, will be called

Joker: Madness for two.

Unfortunately, it will take a lot of patience before discovering the rest of the story of the Joker.

The release of the film is indeed scheduled for October 2, 2024.

$150 million budget

And for good reason, director Todd Phillips is working on a film that promises to be masterful with a phenomenal budget.

According to information from the American magazine

Variety,

the production costs of

Joker 2

will amount to 150 million dollars, against “only” 55 million for the first opus.

This considerable increase in the budget allocated to the film is explained not only by the ambition of the feature film but also by the increase in the salaries of the team.

Todd Philipps will receive $20 million for his directing and producing work.

Joaquin Phoenix will receive the same amount.

He only earned $4.5 million for

Joker

but has meanwhile won an Oscar for this role (which explains the fact that his salary has almost multiplied by five).

Lady Gaga takes over from Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn

Lady Gaga, who will play Harley Quinn in this second installment, will receive 10 million dollars.

The singer thus succeeds Margot Robbie, interpreter of the same character in

Suicide Squad

and

Birds of Prey.

"It's an honor to have succeeded in building a solid enough base so that Harley can now be embodied by other actresses. I think Lady Gaga will do something incredible with it", reacted Margot Robbie on the microphone from

 MTV News

last October.

Lady Gaga will indeed be able to put her talents as a singer at the service of the film since

Joker: Folie à deux

will be a musical.

Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Brendan Gleeson will also appear in the cast.

So we just have to wait two short years...
