Today the United States will hold mid-term congressional elections, which will determine the balance of power in the political arena of the country in the next two years.

Formally, Democrats and Republicans will fight for control of the House of Representatives and the Senate, but in reality we are not talking about party rivalry, but about a conflict of worldviews.

The Washington Times columnist Don Feder describes the conflict this way: "One side is guided by the Constitution, market economy and Judeo-Christian ethics, the other by socialism, cultural Marxism and neo-paganism."

In theory, the midterm elections become a referendum in which voters express their attitude towards the policies of the president sitting in the White House and his administration.

Therefore, as a rule, their results are not very favorable for the ruling party - in two years the credit of trust issued in the presidential elections is wasted, and voters manage to accumulate a lot of claims against those in power.

From the point of view of the founding fathers of the American political system, this is a completely healthy process that allows society to control the elected government.

But the Democrats now ruling in Washington prefer not to remember the precepts of Washington and Jefferson.

After all, to yield at least a small fraction of power to the Republicans means for them today to yield to Trump, who, through the efforts of the mainstream media, has turned into a fascist and an enemy of a free society.

But ruthless sociology predicts the Democrats will lose, at least in the battle for the House of Representatives (the Senate may be able to be held, and then if the mechanisms of fraud that worked so well in the 2020 presidential election are put into play).

And the more unfavorable the forecasts of experts become, the more frustration it causes among the supporters of the Democratic Party.

And this frustration results not only in hundreds of articles scourge of Trump and his associates, not only in social media posts oozing hatred for the right, but also in physical violence against political opponents of the Democrats.

Strikingly, in 2022, the fist right revived again in the United States, reminiscent of the lawlessness of the mid-19th century, when gangsters bought by unscrupulous politicians forced voters to vote "as it should" under the threat of physical violence or a "bloody bath" (buckets of pork were delivered to polling stations from slaughterhouses). blood - it was poured over those who wanted to support the "wrong" candidate).

Here are just a few of the most striking examples of political violence against Republican politicians and volunteers who support "elephants".

In July, New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin was attacked by a knife-wielding man who climbed onto the stage and tried to stab him in the stomach.

The video of the attack was posted on Twitter.

The attacker was detained (he turned out to be a US Army veteran, Yakubonis), but was immediately released, because his lawyer insisted that the client was drunk and did not know that he was attacking a congressman.

Yakubonis escaped with a month of treatment for alcohol addiction in rehab.

On November 2, in New Hampshire, an unknown person attacked retired General Don Boldak before entering the stage, where he was scheduled to debate with Democratic Senator Maggie Hassan.

He tried to knock out the Republican general, but the police reacted faster and pinned down the attacker.

It turned out to be 37-year-old Joseph Hart, an activist of the Libertarian Party who hates Trump and his associates (Boldak supports the ex-president).

As for threats of physical violence, this is quite common.

For example, in Illinois, Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey received a voice message on his answering machine.

Someone who called Bailey "a piece of white ass racist shit" (appreciate the artistic power of the image!), promised to skin the politician "alive" and "feed him his fucking family."

Pretty soon it became clear that Bailey was threatened by 21-year-old Scott Lennox, a white Democratic supporter from Chicago.

Sitting in a bar with friends, he told them about his plans: “Honestly, if he does not kill himself, I will.

You know?

I know where he lives.

I know where he sleeps.

I know where his children sleep.

And I know the damn school he works at."

The most surprising thing in this story is that, although the police quickly identified the caller, they did not immediately detain him.

Someone in the Illinois Police Department felt that Lennox posed no real threat and did not arrest him.

However, Lennox nevertheless appeared before the court: he was released on bail of $ 75 thousand and ordered to stay away from Bailey and his family.

But if in the case of Bailey everything ended well, then in Florida one of the volunteer agitators, who called for voting for Republican Senator Marco Rubio, almost said goodbye to his life.

“Last night, one of our agitators, wearing my T-shirt and DeSantis hat , was brutally attacked

by

four animals who told him Republicans were not allowed in their area in Hialeah, Florida. .

He was bleeding internally, had a broken jaw and will need reconstructive facial surgery," Senator Rubio tweeted, along with photos of the brutally beaten volunteer.

And these are far from all the incidents, indicating that the level of hatred of the Democrats for everyone who does not share their leftist views has reached critical levels.

How could it be otherwise if President Biden himself called the Republicans - though not all, but only those who support Trump - the main threat to America?

“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” Biden said.

And he added: “There is no doubt that the Republican Party today is influenced, driven and intimidated by Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans.

And this is a threat to the country.”

It's a strange thing!

For some reason, it is the “extremists” who suffer the most from the attacks and hooligan antics of the “defenders of American democracy.”

There are no cases when Trump supporters would attack Biden-supporting Democrats (the sensational incident with the attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband, who tried to blame the Trumpists, does not count: David Deepape, who beat Paul Pelosi, turned out to be a crazy left-wing freak who advocated the right to go naked - pro -nude).

There is no evidence that Republicans, whether moderate or MAGA, have resorted to physical violence in political disputes.

Meanwhile, supporters of the Democrats sometimes do absolutely unimaginable things.

Gretchen Whitmer, a fan of Michigan Democratic Governor, bitten Wayne County Republican Party Chair Cheryl Costantino during a campaign rally in Detroit.

All this testifies to the deep crisis of American democracy.

The principles of fair competition of various political platforms, on which the founding fathers erected its building, are increasingly giving way to aggressive and arrogant impudence, using any means to achieve their goals.

Don Feder of The Washington Times, mentioned at the beginning of this article, concludes his column with a pathetic exclamation: “This election will help determine the course we will take: the path to recovery or the path to death!”

But the decay of the political system has gone so far that even if the Republicans win today's elections, its recovery is by no means guaranteed.
