An unexpected surprise for an Indian family in the bedroom

A family woke up to find a two-and-a-half-meter crocodile in their home, and they had to hide until the rescue team came.

And the newspaper "Mirror" reported that at about ten thirty in the evening last Saturday, the goats scattered in the village's farms issued a "distress call" when it turned out that a deadly intruder had crept into their resting place.

Resident Harnam Singh of Gaetia village in India said they did not know how the crocodile got into the house, "but the bleating of a panicked goat at night alerted the people to something wrong, and that's when the crocodile was discovered."

On instructions from the authorities, the family locked the crocodile inside before heading out to join their frightened goats.

Local media said staff of the wildlife department did not reach the scene until around 6 a.m. when they began the rescue operation.

It took the rescue team about an hour to catch the crocodile and transport it safely from the bedroom of the family home.

The crocodile entered the bedroom when Singh's daughter tried to find out why her grandmother was screaming and opened the door to her room, forcing the crocodile in.

The villagers stayed up with the family until help arrived early on Sunday morning.

Dr Tripathi, who led the rescue, said the crocodile crept into the house in search of food.

He explained, "We examined the crocodile and found that it is eight feet long (about two and a half meters). He said that its age is between 1.5 and 2 years."

He continued, "The people of the village were very afraid, but we decided not to carry out the rescue operation at night because this crocodile is very aggressive."

The crocodile came out of a nearby canal, where it will be returned.

According to the residents, this incident is not new, as crocodiles and other predators are discovered in residents' homes in search of moisture or food.
