According to an investigation prepared by the program "For the rest of the story" broadcast in an episode (11/07/2022), the attack on Qatar began since FIFA announced on December 2, 2010, that this Arab Muslim country won the hosting of the World Cup in 2022.

At first, British newspapers, specifically the Guardian, were spearheading this attack that targeted the State of Qatar. For nearly two years, the FIFA Ethics Committee proved that there was not a single corruption suspicion in the Qatar file.

It seems that the British authorities poured out their hatred against Qatar, after Britain lost hosting the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which Russia won at the time, and many Europeans did not like for a Muslim and Arab country to host this global football event, which they consider the preserve of the West and specifically Europe. .

After it was dropped from the hands of European institutions, including Britain, and failed to prove the accusation of corruption against the Qatar file, these countries went to open the human rights file, and these authorities announced their sympathy with the workers who are working to construct the stadiums on which the 2022 World Cup will be held.

In this context, the Guardian newspaper claimed that about 6,500 of these workers died while preparing the infrastructure for the World Cup facilities in Qatar, but Amnesty International, which conducted extensive investigations, denied this information altogether, and the British newspaper then retracted its allegations and admitted that it It gave exaggerated numbers.

The CEO of the World Cup, Nasser Al-Khater, denied the accuracy of the figures reported by the British newspapers, stressing that the number of workers who died during their work periods in the facilities of the World Cup, over the past 12 years, did not exceed 3 people only, surprising that the newspapers did not publish these figures.

The International Labor Organization conducted a comparison between the minimum wage system between Qatar and Britain, to show that the minimum wage in Qatar is equal to the minimum wage in Britain.

The organization also confirmed that Qatar has introduced a lot of legislation that guarantees the rights of workers and secures them a decent living while they are on its lands, pointing out that these conditions do not differ from those of workers in Britain in anything.

It was remarkable - according to the investigation that he conducted for "the rest of the story" and met with many experts and journalists - that the British press, which deliberately attacked the Qatar World Cup, completely ignored mentioning the reforms made by Qatar related to abolishing the sponsorship system, the minimum wage, and enabling workers to provide a representative for them. They were out of the country.

The attacking British press also ignored Qatar's adoption of a law on domestic workers, the first of its kind in the world, although these reforms were praised by international organizations concerned with labor affairs and human rights.

The CEO of the tournament revealed that more than 10,000 inspections of workers' housing were carried out in Qatar, and he did not hide the presence of some violations, but he stressed the great and positive development made by Qatar in this regard, and also stressed that the changes that affected labor laws will continue to be implemented even after the tournament. to achieve Qatar Vision 2030.

In France, French municipalities decided to boycott broadcasting the World Cup matches in Qatar and not to display them on large screens in public squares, under the pretext of violations of workers’ rights, in addition to the cooling used in World Cup facilities that caused high carbon emissions, forgetting Qatar’s commitment to compensate for these emissions.

Nasser Al-Khater noted that stadiums in Europe are heated during the winter season, which produces carbon emissions higher than those resulting from cooling stadiums, noting that Qatar uses solar energy to cool stadiums, which means that World Cup stadiums are environmentally friendly, unlike European ones.

The Qatari official also pointed out the great contradiction in the French position. While French municipalities announce a boycott of the 2022 World Cup, many French institutions are working in Qatar, and some of them have contributed to the development of infrastructure in Qatar in preparation for the World Cup.

Denmark and oil

As for Denmark, which has become one of the countries that adopts a negative attitude towards the World Cup in Qatar, the "investigation" deplored the great change in Qatar's hosting of this event, out of absolute support, and this was represented during the visit of members of the Danish ruling family to the Qatari sports city "Aspire" in 2016. They affirmed their support and conviction of Qatar's ability and eligibility to host this global event.

But the Danish position turned 180 degrees, after Qatar refused to renew the contract of a Danish oil exploration company that was operating the largest oil field in Qatar.

The Himalaya Sportswear Company also announced the production of the Danish national team's shirt in black, to be invisible, in protest of Qatar's treatment of workers, according to their claim.

But Al-Khater stressed that Qatar decided from the outset not to pay attention to all these unjust attacks against it, and set out to prepare for the tournament, which the world awaits every 4 years, to be the most successful Qatari version ever in the history of the World Cup, noting that the tournament represents all Arabs and Muslims, not just Qatar. He called on the whole world to respect the Qatari customs and traditions.

In an indication of the failure of the attacks against Qatar to achieve their goals, Al-Khater indicated that all tickets for the World Cup matches were sold, as 3 million tickets were sold, while about 40 million requests were registered to buy tickets for this tournament.

In turn, former Brazilian Sports Minister Orlando Silva confirmed that Qatar was subjected to a violent attack since the first day of its winning to host the World Cup, revealing that Brazil was also subjected to violent attacks when hosting the World Championship.
