Author Stieg Larsson's original Millennium trilogy was published posthumously between 2005-2007.

Between the years 2015-2019, the torch was picked up by David Lagercrantz who replenished the series with three more titles.

Now Karin Smirnoff has taken over the baton and on Friday 4 November the first part was published, "The sea eagle's cry", which moves the story to Norrbotten.

- It's a bit strange.

It's nothing that I thought about, "what if I got to write the sequel to Millennium", says Karin Smirnoff.

"Had a thought that they could be allowed to sleep"

She is already known for, among other things, her debut novel "Jag for ner till bror" which follows the main character Jana Kippo, the book was nominated in 2018 for the August prize.

Can you bring Jana Kippo into the Millennium story?

- I'm sure I will, I had a small thought that they (Jana Kippo and Lisbeth Salander, editor's note) could sleep with each other.

But I haven't done it yet.

Why wasn't Karin Smirnoff allowed to kill the character Lisbeth Salander?
