Osaka City's "Osaka Acute and General Medical Center", which has suspended many medical services due to a cyber attack by a virus called "ransomware", will restore the system in stages toward January next year, announced that it will return to its original state.

On the 31st of last month, the Osaka Acute and General Medical Center in Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka suffered a cyberattack by a ransomware-type virus called "ransomware", which caused problems in systems such as electronic medical records, and normal outpatient medical care. Many medical services, such as accepting emergency patients, have stopped.

On the night of the 7th, the hospital's president, Takeshi Shimazu, and others held a press conference, and after apologizing for the inconvenience caused to patients, they announced the prospects for future system restoration.

According to this, the hospital will be able to refer to individual electronic medical records stored as backups by the 10th of this month.

By the middle of next month, we will reconstruct the system for entering medical charts and ordering examinations, and will restore all systems completely by early January next year and return to normal operation.

At the hospital, we would like to continue medical treatment with paper charts and restore the medical treatment system as soon as the system is restored.
